“Most people remember the things that are tactile—the food, the wine,” says Rick Taranto of Details Event Staging. “But it’s the environment that elevates the experience and creates something truly memorable. Hosting is like putting on a play. If you create the proper stage or set, the actors—food and wine—are able to show up and be the main event. The goal is for all elements of the event to blend together, creating a unified experience that feels good from top to bottom.”
In today's blog post, we are going to examine what it takes to stage an elegant wedding reception. From the dining tables and seating to fine tableware and accent decor, we'll break it all down for you. All of the images in this post were taken by Nadra Photography from a lovely wedding reception at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Hidden Pond is a beautiful wedding venue and vacation resort located in a comfy, naturalistic setting. The entire property has a lavish, organic feel from the second you enter the gate. You will read signs along the drive in that ask you to "Drive Slowly" and "Breath Deeply" as you enter further into their coastal forest. The wedding venue itself is situated along the treeline and directly across from the renowned Earth at Hidden Pond restaurant. They have a luscious lawn for wedding ceremonies and an indoor/outdoor building for receptions and functions.
RUSTIC BARN WOOD TABLES:
Because of the naturalistic environment at Hidden Pond, let's start with our Rustic Barn Wood Tables. The tables are handcrafted with sun-soaked, rain-washed boards that were harvested from a 200-year-old barn in Corinna, Maine. Every piece of these beautifully weathered, snag-free furnishings is custom-crafted for durability and subtle style. We chose them to reflect the simple grace that only time and nature can create.
GOLD CHIAVARI CHAIRS:
In order to help enhance the lavish nature of the event, we chose our Gold Chiavari Chairs with Ivory Cushions. The Chiavari chair, also known as the Chiavarina, or Tiffany chair, is a wooden chair of Ligurian design dating back to 1807. Over the last couple centuries, the style has been refined for a more modern appearance and still maintains its popularity. You'll even find the Chiavari chair in the White House State Dining Room.
GOLD CHARGER PLATES & STERLING SILVER FLATWARE:
Food is only as beautiful as the presentation. We decided to let our luxurious Gold Saturn Charger Plates and Sterling Silver Savoy Flatware do the talking at this wedding reception. They showed the chef's work at its very best. Not to mention, dressing the tables with silver and gold was another way to enhance the elegant appearance of the event and match other staging components.
SCHOTT ZWIESEL CRYSTAL GLASSWARE:
There's nothing more satisfying than the feel of quality glassware in hand paired with quality beverages and refreshments. We chose the Schott Zwiesel Classico collection for that very reason. They're the most beautifully designed and most durable crystal glasses available today. We elevated their glass game so they could make a toast with fine crystal at the wedding reception.
ACCENT DECOR & CANDLE LIGHTING:
When everything else is in place, the most important details come into play. The accent decor and table candle lighting were the final touches we needed to achieve an enchanting evening soiree. The Silver Candle Cups created a beautiful silver and gold glow that brought together all of the fine table elements and set a charming atmosphere for the night.
